Hot-Humid Climate Zone

Insulation Engineered
for Florida.

Florida's combination of extreme heat, humidity, intense sun and long cooling seasons requires insulation systems designed specifically for the climate. The strategy that works in Ohio can actively hurt a Florida building: vapor drive runs inward here, and most attic heat arrives as radiant energy off the roof.

  • HeatLong cooling seasons and attic temperatures that routinely climb past 140°F.
  • HumidityAssemblies must dry inward — the wrong vapor retarder traps moisture.
  • Solar LoadRadiant gain through the roof deck is the dominant attic load.
  • Air LeakageUnsealed gaps pull hot, humid air into conditioned space.
  • MoistureStorm-wet insulation is a removal problem, not a drying problem.

Boca Raton & Delray Beach

How much does attic insulation cost in Boca Raton and Delray Beach?

Most Boca Raton and Delray Beach attics land between $1.10 and $1.90 per square foot for blown fiberglass to R-38, which is roughly $2,200 to $4,500 for a typical 2,000 square foot home including air sealing and baffles. Removing old insulation adds about $1.00 to $2.00 per square foot, and spray foam on the roof deck runs $2.20 to $6.50 per square foot. See our Delray Beach attic insulation guide and Boca Raton spray foam cost guide.

What R-value do attics in Boca Raton and Delray Beach need?

Both cities are in Palm Beach County, which falls in Florida Climate Zone 1 under the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation (8th Edition). The code minimum for attics is R-30. We recommend R-38, because settling and thin spots at the eaves mean an R-30 attic often performs closer to R-24 after a few years.

Do you serve every neighborhood in Boca Raton and Delray Beach?

Yes. Palm Beach County is where we run our densest schedule, and we work throughout both cities — single-family homes, villas, condos and 55+ communities such as Kings Point in Delray Beach, plus commercial buildings along the Federal Highway and Atlantic Avenue corridors. See our Boca Raton and Delray Beach pages.

Can I get the FPL insulation rebate in Boca Raton or Delray Beach?

Both cities are served by FPL. FPL's ceiling insulation program pays $220 per installation when existing ceiling insulation is below R-8 and the home has whole-house central electric air conditioning and heating. The work must be done by an FPL Participating Independent Contractor, and the credit appears on the contractor's invoice. Details: the FPL insulation rebate in 2026.

Is there still a federal tax credit for insulation in 2026?

No. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) ended for improvements placed in service after December 31, 2025, so insulation installed in Boca Raton or Delray Beach in 2026 doesn't qualify. The FPL ceiling insulation rebate is still available for homes that meet its requirements.

Is spray foam or blown-in better for a Boca Raton or Delray Beach home?

For most vented attics, blown fiberglass to R-38 with air sealing is the best value. Spray foam on the underside of the roof deck makes more sense when the ducts and air handler sit in the attic, or when the roof is flat or low-slope with little attic space — common in older Delray Beach homes and additions. Compare them in blown-in vs. batt insulation and spray foam in Delray Beach.

Do you remove rodent-damaged or storm-damaged insulation in Boca Raton and Delray Beach?

Yes. We vacuum-extract wet, moldy or rodent-contaminated insulation through a hose to the outside, so it never comes through the house, then air seal and reinsulate. Removal typically runs $1.00 to $2.00 per square foot. See attic insulation removal in Delray Beach.

Do you insulate condos and villas in Boca Raton and Delray Beach?

Yes. Condos, villas and townhomes often have shallow attics shared across units, so air sealing between units matters as much as insulation depth. Your association may have rules about access, scheduling or contractor insurance, so we coordinate with the HOA or property manager when needed.

Do you handle commercial insulation and fireproofing in Boca Raton and Delray Beach?

Yes — offices, retail, restaurants, medical buildings, warehouses and mixed-use properties. We install spray foam, batt, metal building and fire-rated assemblies and work from plans at bid stage. See commercial fireproofing in Boca Raton and fireproofing for Delray Beach restaurants.

Does a radiant barrier help in Boca Raton and Delray Beach attics?

Usually, yes — especially when ducts are in the attic. Most of the heat entering a South Florida attic radiates down from the hot roof deck, which a radiant barrier reflects. It costs about $0.60 to $1.40 per square foot and works alongside R-38 attic insulation, not instead of it. See radiant barrier in Delray Beach.

Florida Insulation

How much does insulation cost in Florida?

Most Florida attic insulation projects land between $1.50 and $4.50 per square foot installed, depending on the material. Blown-in fiberglass to R-38 is the low end; closed-cell spray foam on the roof deck is the high end. A typical 2,000 sq ft South Florida home runs roughly $2,200–$4,500 for a blown-in attic top-up and $6,000–$13,000 for a full spray foam roof deck encapsulation. Standard Insulation gives free, itemized, no-obligation estimates across all 67 Florida counties — call (561) 975-6204.

What R-value do I need in a Florida attic?

The Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation (8th Edition) puts most of the state in Climate Zone 2 and seven southern counties — Broward, Collier, Hendry, Lee, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach — in Zone 1. For attics that means a minimum of R-38 in Zone 2 and R-30 in Zone 1, with R-38 to R-49 the practical target for comfort and utility savings. Many Florida homes built before 2005 still have R-11 to R-19, which is why their cooling bills are so high.

Is spray foam or blown-in better for a Florida home?

It depends on the goal. Blown-in fiberglass is the best dollar-for-dollar way to raise attic R-value fast. Spray foam is better when you want to move the thermal boundary to the roof deck, bring the ducts and air handler into conditioned space, air-seal, and control humidity. In a hot-humid climate, closed-cell spray foam on the roof deck usually delivers the biggest total comfort and dehumidification win — but it costs more upfront.

Do you serve Palm Beach County?

Palm Beach County is our primary service area. We work in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Riviera Beach, Greenacres, and every other municipality in the county — each one has its own dedicated service page on this site.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Standard Insulation is a licensed and fully insured Florida insulation contractor. We carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage, and we provide certificates of insurance to homeowners, general contractors, and property managers on request before any work begins.

How fast can you get out to me?

We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties we can usually be on site for an estimate within 24 to 48 hours. Emergency insulation removal after a roof leak or storm event gets same-day priority whenever we can make it happen.
